Golf Trip
This week we are off to Tucson, Arizona. And le me tell you, we found some crazy golf courses!
Day 1 - Arizona National Golf Club
Designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr., is a golfer's dream. Nestled in the Santa Catalina Mountains, this 18-hole course offers a challenging 6,606-yard layout amidst mesquite-lined arroyos and rock outcroppings. It's not just about the swing; it's a strategic adventure!
The views? Absolutely stunning! You're treated to panoramic mountain vistas, giant saguaros, and charming natural springs. It's like playing golf in a postcard.
But watch out! The course is as fun as it is challenging, with surprises like wildlife encounters (hello, rattlesnakes! 🐍) and dramatic putts. In top-notch condition, it promises an unforgettable golfing experience, blending challenge, scenery, and a dash of excitement.
Day 2 - Starr Pass Golf Club
Designed by the golf legend Arnold Palmer, is a true gem for golf enthusiasts. This club offers three distinct nine-hole courses, each with its own flavor and challenges.
First up, the Palmer Course, a 3,241-yard beauty, is a test of skill with its dramatic elevation changes and the tricky winds of the Tucson Mountains. It's like nature's own obstacle course!
Then there's the Rattler Course, stretching 3,490 yards with a memorable Par 5 on Hole 5. Split fairways make it a strategic puzzle, and if you nail that par, you'll feel like a golfing superhero!
And don't forget the Coyote Course, a serene 3,512-yard stretch where you might bump into local wildlife. It's not just golf; it's an adventure in the wild!
Starr Pass is also a part of golf history, thanks to Phil Mickelson's 1991 victory here. Plus, it's an Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary, so you're playing in an eco-friendly paradise. Environmentally conscious and challenging? That's a win-win!
Day 3 - Ventana Canyon's Mountain Course
Picture this: a breathtaking par-three nestled in the rugged rocks of the Santa Catalina mountains, stretching across a cactus-filled canyon. It's not just a golf course; it's a masterpiece by nature itself!
This course is a rollercoaster of challenges and beauty. From the opening par-four with its sneaky dogleg right to the awe-inspiring third hole, every swing brings a new adventure. And let's not forget the dramatic elevation changes and the swirling winds – they're like nature's own caddies, adding an extra layer of excitement to your game.
With a total of 18 holes, each offers its own unique challenge, surrounded by the stunning panorama of the Sonoran Desert. It's not just about the golf; it's about the experience. So, bring your camera, and your A-game, because every hole at Ventana Canyon's Mountain Course is an unforgettable moment waiting to happen.
PGA News
Let's dive into the 2023 PNC Championship, where family ties and golf lines blurred in the most heartwarming way.
The Winning Duo: Bernhard and Jason Langer
Bernhard Langer, a name synonymous with golfing greatness, teamed up with his son Jason to clinch the title at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club in Orlando. This dynamic duo carded a final round 59, overcoming a three-shot deficit to win the championship. Talk about a family power play!
Battling the Elements
The Langers weren't just up against the competition; they faced down 30 mph winds! But like true champs, they turned the challenge into triumph. 💨
Tiger Woods: The Comeback King?
While Tiger Woods and his son Charlie didn't take home the trophy, they left fans hopeful for next year. Tiger's presence on the course is always a spectacle, and this year was no different. On top of that Charlie was drving greens that were 320 yards away 🤯
The 2023 PNC Championship was more than just a tournament; it was a celebration of family, resilience, and the enduring spirit of golf. This was the last tournament this calendar year. Golf will be back January 4th for the Tournament of Champions.
