PGA News

Golf at Torrey Pines just wrapped up, and boy, was it a wild ride! Harris English, playing like he had a secret agreement with the golf gods, snagged the 2025 Farmers Insurance Open trophy with a solid -8 finish. Not too shabby for a week's work!

The Good, The Bad, and The Bogeys

Sweden's Ludvig Aberg kicked things off by absolutely torching the North Course with a first-round 63. The Swede, who claims San Diego is his "favourite place in the world," played like he was using cheat codes - 16 greens in regulation, eight birdies, and an eagle. Talk about making the rest of the field feel like weekend hackers!

Weather or Not

The tournament stuck to its Wednesday-to-Saturday schedule (because nobody wants to compete with NFL playoffs - even golf knows its place). The traditional double-course setup saw players navigate both the North and South courses at Torrey Pines, with the South Course playing significantly tougher - sporting a scoring average of 72.487 compared to the North's 70.218. The oceanside venue lived up to its reputation as one of the PGA TOUR's most challenging stops.

The Grand Finale

Harris English channeled his inner clutch gene to outlast the field and claim his fifth PGA TOUR title. It was the kind of performance that makes you wonder if he's been secretly practicing in his backyard at midnight. Meanwhile, Hideki Matsuyama (T-32), fresh off his win at The Sentry, showed up and showed out. He had a tough final round, shooting +4. But he proved that his early 2025 form wasn't just a New Year's resolution that actually stuck.

The tournament might have missed some star power (looking at you, Xander Schauffele), but it delivered more drama than a soap opera - just with better outfits and fewer evil twins. English's victory proves that sometimes in golf, like in life, the best stories come from the most unexpected places!
