Tiger Takes Backseat as Langers Clinch Record Sixth PNC Title: Charlie's Ace Steals Show

Well folks, the 2024 PNC Championship is in the books, and once again the Langer family proved they're basically the golf equivalent of the Brady Bunch - just with more trophies! Bernhard and Jason Langer clinched their sixth(!) PNC Championship title, walking away with a cool $200,000. At this rate, they might need to rename it the "Langer Invitational."

First Round Shenanigans

Saturday saw three teams tied at the top with 13-under 59s: Team Woods, Team Langer, and Team Singh. It was tighter than a golf dad's polo shirt on the leaderboard, with Teams Lehman and Harrington breathing down their necks at 12-under.

The "Did That Really Happen?" Moments

The highlight reel was pure gold this year. Charlie Woods, apparently tired of just being "Tiger's kid," decided to show off with a hole-in-one on the par-3 4th. You need to see it, check it out here! Tiger's reaction was priceless - somewhere between "That's my boy!" and "Wait, I didn't teach him that!" Meanwhile, 89-year-old Gary Player was out there making birdie putts, proving that age is just a number (and possibly that he has access to some sort of golfing fountain of youth).

Annika's Amazing Start

Annika Sörenstam and her 13-year-old son Will McGee started their round with seven straight birdies. Seven! Most of us can't even make seven straight pars in our dreams, but here they were, making it look easier than a two-foot putt (which, let's be honest, some pros still miss).

The Final Countdown

The leaderboard shook out like this:

  • 1st: Team Langer (shocking, we know)

  • 2nd: Team Woods (Charlie carrying Tiger, obviously)

  • T3: Team Duval and Team Harrington (sharing more than just the spotlight)

Tiger's Comeback Tour

Tiger Woods made his return after his sixth back surgery - at this point, he's had more comebacks than a boomerang. But hey, he showed up, played well, and most importantly, got to witness his son's ace. Not a bad day at the office!

This tournament once again proved that golf is best served with a side of family fun and a dash of competitive spirit. And remember, if you're ever feeling down about your golf game, just remember that somewhere out there, even Tiger Woods is getting shown up by his teenager!
