Golf Trip

This week we are looking into Chandler, Arizona. There so many golf courses to choose from but we have narrowed it down to 3 courses for our 4 day trip.

The Bear Course at Bear Creek Golf Complex offers a unique desert golf experience. As a first-timer, you'll be amazed by its pristine conditions. Strategic layout. And natural beauty surrounding each hole.

Spanning over 6,800 yards, The Bear Course is a championship-length haven. With its mix of par 3s, 4s, and 5s, it ensures a enjoyable round for golfers of all levels.

Challenge awaits even the most seasoned golfers. With undulating fairways, well-placed bunkers, and water hazards. Proper club selection and course management is in order to stay out of the sh*t!

The incorporation of the desert landscape elevates The Bear Course. With native plants, cacti, and occasional wildlife sightings. Its well-maintained greens demand precision with every putt.

Beyond the course, Bear Creek offers a fully stocked pro shop and practice facilities. Refuel at the clubhouse after your round.

Green fee - They have dynamic pricing but you’re looking at anywhere from $55 - $95 for 18 with a cart.

Day 2 - We are heading to Ocotillo Golf Club

Picture this: 27 glorious holes designed by the legendary course architect, Ted Robinson. Winding their way through lush fairways, and vibrant greens. It's like putting through a dream!

Ocotillo has some serious bragging rights. Not only has it received Golf Digest's prestigious 4 1/2 Star Best Places to Play Award, but Golf World has ranked it among the Top 50 Resort Courses. We're talking the crème de la crème here!

This traditional-style course offers a refreshing contrast to the surrounding desert-themed courses (like Bear Creek). Immaculate greens-keeping? Check. Challenging layout? Check. Breathtaking scenery? Double-check! The three nine-hole courses can be played in any combo you fancy, ranging from 6,782 to 7,016 yards from the back tees.

Let's dive into the courses! Prepare for the Blue-Gold combo, the daring choice, with a rating of 72.2 and a slope of 133. Loads of water hazards, including a magnificent lake to test your skills. If the starter sets you up on this combo, you could be in for a day.

For a slightly tamer challenge, try the Green-Gold combo. It's exciting and playable, perfect for all skill levels. And if you're new or want a forgiving round, the Green-Blue combo is for you.

Green fees - They also have dynamic pricing. So it looks like we are looking at between $69 - $129 for 18 with a cart.

Day 3 - As always we have the best course (in our opinion) on the last day. This time we are playing Devils Claw at Whirlwind Golf Club.

Designed by the legendary Gary Panks. This par-72 layout offers exhilarating challenges and rewarding moments. With elevation changes, undulating greens, and impeccable conditions, Devil's Claw is truly a golfer's dream.

Stretching over 7,000 yards from the back tees, Devil's Claw caters to all skill levels with its range of tee boxes. The front nine meanders through the picturesque desert landscape. Featuring captivating holes with jaw-dropping views. The back nine is more demanding. Boasting narrow fairways and small greens that will put your accuracy to the test.

Prepare for an unforgettable experience on the par-5 6th hole. This behemoth spans almost 600 yards from the tips! Nothing like having to go driver, then driver off the deck on your 2nd shot 🙃.

Devil's Claw isn't just loved by locals. We are told it's a must-visit destination for golf enthusiasts from around the globe. Consistently ranked among Arizona's finest courses. And having hosted prestigious tournaments like the Gila River Golf Classic. Devil's Claw will leave you with memories that will last a lifetime.

Green fees - This is the most expensive course we’ve listed today. You’re looking at between $135 - $205 for 18 and a cart.

PGA News

Unfortunately we had no golf tournament last weekend. So no recap here. We are sick of this fall swing! 😂

Up Next

This week The Tour is headed to Mexico for the WWT Championship. This is the first time a PGA Tour event will be held at a Tiger Woods designed course!

Purse 💰: $8.2 million. $1.476 million to first.

Past Winner 👑: Russell Henley

Strength of Field 💪: It looks like we only get 4 of the top 50 golfers in the world this week.

Top headlines of the week:

The two players, Vince India and Jake Staiano, were suspended for six and three months, respectively. The PGA Tour Integrity Program prohibits players from betting on any PGA Tour events, even if they are not participating in the event. According to THIS article the total amount of bets made was $116.20. And to make it worse, one of the bets was for DeChambeau to win 🤦‍♂️

The PGA Tour rejected an investment bid from a major sports company amid ongoing discussions with the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF). The PIF is the sovereign wealth fund of Saudi Arabia, and it has been linked to the LIV Golf Invitational Series. The PGA Tour's rejection of the investment bid is a sign that the tour is not interested in doing business with the PIF or LIV Golf.

Netflix will host a live match play golf tournament next month featuring PGA Tour stars and Formula One drivers. The tournament will be held at Wynn Las Vegas, and it will be the first-ever live sports event produced by Netflix.
