Golf Course
Nestled in the rolling hills of Caledon, the Caledon Country Club offers golfers a serene yet challenging golfing experience. This beautifully maintained course features 18 holes spread across a diverse landscape that showcases the natural beauty of the region. The fairways are lined with mature trees, and the greens are well-kept, providing a smooth and fast play.
One of the highlights of the course is the par-5 14th hole, known for its significant dogleg left. This hole requires strategic thinking and precision off the tee, as the dogleg is not only sharp but also guarded by dense forestry on the left and a road to the right and straight off the tee. The tee shot is extremely down hill, so cutting the corner is an option here. Successfully navigating this hole can be rewarding, making it a favourite among members and visitors alike.
Caledon Country Club is not just about golf; it offers a full range of facilities including a pro shop stocked with the latest gear. A welcoming clubhouse with dining options, and practice facilities to hone your skills. The club is known for its friendly atmosphere and exceptional service. We were frost delayed over an hour, the clubhouse bartender more than happy to see us!
Overall, Caledon Country Club represents a perfect blend of challenge and beauty, appealing to golfers of all skill levels who are looking for a pleasant day on the links or a competitive round. Whether you're local or just visiting, it’s a great place to enjoy a game of golf in a picturesque setting.
Golf News
Rory McIlory and Shane Lowry won the Zurich Classic of New Orleans last weekend. It came down to a playoff against Chad Ramey and Martin Trainer. But the Irish tandem come out on top shooting 25-under par. Worth nothing - Scottie Scheffler was not in the field.. (could he have won with out a partner?)
LPGA: Hannah Green successfully defends JM Eagle LA Championship. She shot a 5-under on Sunday to finish 12-under for the tournament and win by 3 strokes. Worth noting - Nelly Korda was not in the field 😂
LIV Golf (I know, I know. Who cares, right? 😉) released where their individual championship tournament will be held in Sept. Bolingbrook Golf Club, a municipal course in the Chicago area will play host. Some are calling it a TPC Sawgrass wanna be, due to their par-3 island green. Players on the tour are unhappy with not having the schedule up front. LIV has yet to announce where their team championship will be held in Sept.
PGA Tour announced their equity program. The biggest stars on Tour will receive hefty cheques due to the program. The first $930 million (🤯) was distributed last week. It gives players equity stakes in PGA Tour Enterprises. Aligning the stars of the game with the Tour itself.
Chris Kirk celebrates 5 years of sobriety. The 6 time PGA Tour winner stepped away from golf in 2019 to get help for depression and alcoholism. Kirk has now won 2 Tour event in the last 12 months.
This week: CJ Cup Byron Nelson tee times and TV coverage.
